Mercedes SL 65 AMG
Mercedes will be at the upcoming New York International Auto Show (April 6-15) with the new SL 65 AMG, which is due to hit the showrooms in November. The model is equipped with the same 6.0-litre twin turbo V12 of the previous version - credited with an output of 630 hp and 1.000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque - coupled with a more efficient and modern 6-speed automatic gearbox, that replaces the old 5-speed one. Appaently, the move will allow the new SL 65 AMG to shave off a few tenth of a second over the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of the model it is about to replace, while fuel consumption will be lower too. The new model will also use three cruising modes: Controlled Efficiency, Sport, Sport Plus and Manual.Weighing in at 1,950 kg, the new SL 65 AMG will be no less than 120 kg lighter than the outgoing generation, thanks for the most part to its brand new aluminum body frame. The model will come with a sporty ABC active suspension system and a new electromechanical AMG speed-sensitive sports steering, whereas braking will make use of 39 mm steel discs at the front and 36 mm at the rear (although carbon-ceramic discs will also be made available as optional extra) .From an aesthetic point of view, the SL 65 AMG uses chrome inserts on the front end, bigger aerodynamic flicks, a brand new set of 19″ alloy wheels (a burnished set will also available as an option) and a bonnet made of carbon fibre, while the passenger compartment gets embellished with a number of steel and carbon elements. The car obviously comes with a number of aid and safety systems, including the Magic Sky Control, the Bang & Olufsen sound system and the clever AirScaft system.

2012 Geneva Motor Show: BMW M6
BMW showed up at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show with an impressive fleet of new and not-so-new models that the Swiss crowd surely appreciated. More specifically, the most interesting models dispatched by the Bavarian carmaker all come from the BMW’s Motorsport Division: the new M6 coupe and convertible, the impressive M550 d-X5, M50d-X6 and M50d as well as the face-lifted X6, X5 M and X6 M, and here is a short video showing us some details of these models.
The new M6 comes with the same power train of the M5 F10, including its frightening 560 hp 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 delivering 560 hp with 680 Nm of maximum torque. The M Division did a great job with the new diesel models too: the M550 d, X5 M50d and X6 M50d all come with an innovative 3.0-litre 6-cylinder tri-turbo engine that is already homologated for the Euro6 emissions standards. Also pretty interesting are the new X5 M and X6 M, which just underwent their mid-life restyling. Last but not least, the Geneva event sees the European debut of the 6-Series Gran Coupe, which was unveiled at the 2012 NAIAS in Detroit last January.

2012 Geneva Motor Show: Aventador J
Here is the first video of one of most shining stars at the ongoing 2012 Geneva Motor Show: the Lamborghini Aventador J. This one-minute long footage - which has been shot right on the spot by our mates from parent site Autoblog.it - show us a few interesting details of this jaw-dropping one-off, a very extreme roadster with neither roof nor windscreen that will be up for grabs once the Swiss event will be over.Commenting on the launch of this car, Automobili Lamborghini’s President and CEO Stephan Winkelmannof said: “The new Lamborghini Aventador J is the most radical open supersports car of Lamborghini’s history. Its name comes from our tradition and combines an unconventional design with technology innovation. Nowadays we are confronted with several regulations that we face in the spirit of challenge. The Aventador J is the proof that, despite the rules, Lamborghini will always make people dream, even in the future.”
2012 Geneva Motor Show: Ferrari F12berlinetta
Following by a few hours its virtual launch on the internet, Ferrari introduced its brand new V12 flagship F12berlinetta ‘in the metal’ at the ongoing 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The model is already considered a milestone in the glorious history of the Italian manufacturer: to start with, it is the most powerful and fastest Ferrari ever produced, and comes with so many technological enhancements that it makes its predecessor, the 599, look like a car for retired golf players. Well… almost. Here are a couple of live videos from Geneva showing us two pretty significant moments surrounding the birth of this masterpiece: the first one is about the actual moment of the unveiling of the car, right in front of a massive firing squad of photographers and cameramen; the second one (after the jump) is an official footage released by Ferrari that features chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo himself introducing the F12berlinetta to the Swiss crowd and, by extension, to the whole world. The bar is set high for the new Ferrari flagship, but Mr Montenzemolo sounds pretty confident that the F12berlinetta has all it takes to be simply the best sports car ever made.
